Indians hit four homers in road rout of Rangers
ARLINGTON, Texas
Cody Anderson allowed only three hits in 62/3 innings, four Cleveland teammates homered and the Indians beat the Texas Rangers 9-1 on Friday night.
Anderson held Texas scoreless until Ryan Cordell hit a solo homer to left field with two out in the sixth. The right-hander walked one and struck out four while throwing 85 pitches.
Yan Gomes and Juan Uribe homered against Rangers starter Colby Lewis in the second inning for a 2-0 lead. A two-run homer by Carlos Santana capped a five-run fifth inning, and Francisco Lindor homered in the sixth.
Gomes, Uribe and Lindor each had two hits for Cleveland.
Track officials host free clinic at YSU’s WATTS
YOUNGSTOWN
The Greater Youngstown Track Officials Association is hosting a free high jump clinic at the WATTS at Youngstown State University on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This clinic is open to all OHSAA officials as well as coaches and will count as a local rules interpretation credit. Parking will be available in the M5 Parking Lot, directly behind the WATTS.
Deb Satterfield and Liz Tomory will lead the event. Satterfield has been an official for almost 15 years, working countless district and regional tournaments and has experience working at the NCAA level.
Liz Tomory has been a certified OHSAA official for over 20 years, working at the Division 1 regional and district at Austintown Fitch every year she has been eligible and has also worked at the NCAA level.
A council of elders will be available to help answer any questions on any track topic. The Council includes John Daubenspeck (rules interpreter), Jim Fox (state championship referee), Lou Brown (state championship throws crew chief), Rob Conklin (OHSAA district/regional meet manager) and Ed Katzman (OHSAA state championship finish area coordinator)

Hubbard club sets shoot schedule

The Hubbard Conservation Club is hosting a series of archery shoots and classes starting on Sunday and running through August.

Beaver Creek club hosts archery shoot

The Beaver Creek Sportsman’s Club will hold a 3D archery shoot on Saturday and Sunday. Cost for people 13 years old and up is $10.
