Cameron Carson pitched seven innings of one-run ball to pace Niles past East Lincoln. Carson also led the Red Dragons with two hits and two RBIs, while Jaret Johnson doubled and Marco DeFalco tripled.
SOFTBALL
Struthers 17, Valley Christian 1
BOARDMAN
The Wildcats scored seven runs in the first three innings to put the game away early. Julia Neifer, Abby Bayus and Mario DeChellis all recorded RBI singles during the outburst, while Khaylah Brown scored four runs, singled and had an RBI. Brianna Leonard earned the win on the mound for Struthers, allowing one run, three hits and striking out six in five innings.
Lakeview 4, Warren Harding 0 5 innings
CORTLAND
Cait Kelm tossed a no-hitter against the Raiders in the five-inning affair, striking out 10 and walking three. Kylee Mann hit a two-run home run in the third inning and Sam Marino had three of Lakeview’s eight hits.
South Range 8, Jefferson (W.Va.) 4
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.
Caragyn Yanek was the South Range star going the distance on the mound, striking out seven, walking none and smacking three of South Range’s seven hits, including a triple. South Range won its bracket championship in South Carolina and return to host Crestview, Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Salem 4, Western Reserve 3 suspended
SALEM
The contest was suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning due to rain. Salem’s Ciara Janofa was 2 for 2, while Katie Moore doubled and had two RBIs. For Western Reserve, J. Stubbs notched two hits.
