Boardman community members and Boardman faculty members visited Dr. Ray Guarendi at Boardman Glenwood Middle School on March 1.

Guarendi, a clinicial psychologist, is a husband and father of 10 children and travels around the nation to give presentations. Guarendi gives educational presentations on family matters and parenting while being engaging and entertaining for the audience. He tries to become relatable to the audience by speaking about his own personal experiences.

The Boardman PTA and the Boardman Local School District organized the presentation to bring Guarendi back. Guarendi has visited Boardman before, being a native of Canton.

“I personally believe what you are witnessing in American parenting today is unprecedented in human history,” Guarendi told the crowd.

Guarendi discussed the topics “You’re a Better Parent Than You Think,” “Back to the Family,” and “Lessons For Life From Children.” Discipline was a big factor in his presentation and the different topics he talked about related back to discipline. He discussed different types of discipline, how different people discipline their children and that discipline is what helps form how children act as adults.

The presentation also included free child care, which helped those people who had to bring their children.
