Youngstown ‘Bar Rescue’ episodes to air in October

YOUNGSTOWN

Spike TV said Tuesday the Youngstown “Bar Rescue” episodes featuring the Royal Oaks and the former Martini Brothers Burger Bar will air in October.

The Royal Oaks episode will air at 10 p.m. Oct. 18 and the Martini Brothers episode will air at the same time Oct. 25.

Crew members from the docu-reality show came to Youngstown at the beginning of August to “rescue” the local bars.

The series stars Jon Taffer, a bar-management and nightlife expert. Taffer and the “Bar Rescue” crew go to bars throughout the nation to give them a physical makeover and to identify poor business practices.

They selected the Royal Oaks, 924 Oak St., a beloved bar on the East Side.

After the Oaks’ makeover, “Bar Rescue” moved on to Martini Brothers, now known as The Federal, in the Knox Building at 110 W. Federal St. downtown.

The Martini Brothers location went through several transitions through the years.

Fans of the show flocked to the local bars to get a chance to see Taffer, and get a first look at the revamped bars.
