Miami University approves about $135M in campus improvements
OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Miami University officials have approved several multimillion-dollar construction projects for the southwest Ohio school.
The Hamilton-Middletown Journal-News reports that trustees approved roughly $135 million worth of renovations to be completed over a six-year period.
The projects include a $23.6 million addition to the Armstrong Student Center that Miami finance director David Creamer says will likely be open in 18 months.
The university’s previous student center will undergo a $20 million facelift that will bring an expanded bookstore, welcome center, auditorium and more.
Trustees also submitted plans for a $92 million upgrade of two academic buildings to the Ohio Board of Regents. Miami is seeking taxpayer help to fund the project, which is scheduled to be completed by 2022.
The trustees met last week on the Oxford campus.
