Liberty police arrest man suspected of operating meth lab out of his car

GIRARD — A Niles man was arraigned today in Girard Municipal Court after his arrest by Liberty police for his alleged participation in a suspected mobile methamphetamine lab.

Joseph Suroiu, 39, faces a felony charge of manufacture of illegal drugs and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police stopped Suroiu at Belmont Avenue near Goldie Road for speeding and driving diagonally across the road, according to a police report.

Suroiu informed officers he was driving under suspension and, after a search of his vehicle, police found two pipes, a razor blade and materials commonly used for making methamphetamine, including lithium and muriatic acid.
