Fitch boys, South Range girls win county cross country titles

AUSTINTOWN

Austintown Fitch’s Matt Rozic, Andrew Green and Ryan Dippolito claimed the top three spots to lead the Falcons to the boys team title at Tuesday’s Mahoning County cross country championship at Township Park.

The Falcons defeated Boardman 24-66.

Boardman’s Ethan Swendeman was fourth, followed by teammate Chris Butler.

In the girls race, Poland’s Maggie Sebest placed first and South Range’s Xena Maali was second to lead the Raiders to the team title.

South Range’s Mollie Pierson was fifth and teammate Madelyn Kimpel was sixth as the Raiders edged Poland 48-80.

Western Reserve’s Ashley Rowley was fourth and Jackson-Milton’s Michaelina Terranova fifth.

Trumbull County meet

NILES

Maplewood seniors Allen Sparks and Tristan Dahmen finished 1-2 to lead the Rockets to a 20-54 win over McDonald at Stevens Park.

Senior Danny Loomis placed third for the Blue Devils, while Maplewood’s Nate Keeney was fourth and Badger’s Owen Reeher rounded out the top five.

In the girls race, McDonald sophomore Malina Mitchell won the individual title and senior teammate Heidi Hoffman was second to lead the Blue Devils to a 20-79 win over Lakeview.

The Maplewood boys and McDonald girls won Division III state titles last season, while Dahmen won the individual title.

Columbiana County meet

SALEM

Leetonia senior Michael Inboden won the individual title and Salem placed three runners in the top 10 to capture the boys team title at Memorial Park.

Salem sophomore Quinlan Rumsey placed sixth, while Jared McClish was eighth and Trey Double ninth for the Quakers, who finished with 38 points.

East Liverpool was second with 50 points, with senior Quinn Lyle placing second and junior Tyler Adkins third.

In the girls race, East Palestine sophomore Alexis Cunningham placed first and Salem edged Leetonia 47-68 for the team title.

Salem senior Olivia Stiff led the Quakers with a sixth-place finish while teammate Mary Double was eighth.

United junior Brynn Hofmeister placed second and Leetonia senior Casey Grace was third.
