Campbell man, 29, faces charges

CAMPBELL

Police have filed charges against a Campbell man after he barricaded himself in a home at 436 Sanderson Ave. The 29-year-old man, who police believe to be mentally ill, faces misdemeanor charges of criminal damaging, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and criminal mischief.

Officers responded to the area shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday after neighbors complained of a man throwing trash at cars.

Officers forced entry into the home after obtaining a warrant and warning the suspect they would bring in a police dog, Officer Robert Curtis said. Police removed the suspect from the home after using pepper spray. The man, who made threats against the officers, did not appear to have any weapons, and no one was injured, police said.

City officials have since condemned the man’s home, which was filled with trash and excrement. The man also had several pets, police said.
