Boardman debuts senior check-in program
BOARDMAN
Township officials today debuted a new senior check-in program at a news conference.
The Care Call program, which currently is being installed, will send out automated calls to senior citizens and other township residents who live alone and are in need of welfare checks.
Those who sign up for the program can select the days and times when they will receive calls. A township police car will be sent to their residence if they and a designated contact person fail to respond to the calls.
Calls are set to go out starting in January. Enrollment, which is free, now is open.
