YSU alert: Attempted robbery on campus

YOUNGSTOWN — About 6:30 p.m., Youngstown State University issued an alert of an attempted robbery on campus.

The alert said the suspect approached the victim from behind and attempted to take her bookbag from her shoulder. She resisted and the suspect fled on foot.

The incident occurred in the area between Maag Library and Ward Beecher Science Hall.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned male, possibly Arab or Hispanic, about 5 feet 5 or 5 feet 6 inches tall, and wearing a gray hoodie.

The alert said no weapon was used. The victim was not injured and was able to maintain control of her property.
