Marshalls in Boardman opens its door with grand-opening bash
BOARDMAN
Shortly after a new Marshalls – a national off-price retailer – location at Tiffany Square opened its doors to the public at 8 a.m. Thursday, a check-out line wrapped from one end of the store to the other.
The consensus among shoppers seemed to be that the area needed the store.
Maxine Detoro, of Girard, was among the crowd of shoppers that packed the store Thursday. She came out of curiosity, she said, and was shopping for “a little bit of anything and everything.”
Detoro said she likely will be a frequent customer.
“It’s nice to have a Marshalls in our area,” she said. “We needed a store like this.”
Judy Stratton, of Salem, also thinks she’ll be a regular Marshalls shopper. Stratton, who said she had never been to a Marshalls before, loaded up her shopping cart with items she found for herself, her daughter and grandchildren.
“It’s just awesome,” she said. “I love it. I really love it.”
The store hosted an all-day grand-opening celebration Thursday, offering giveaways and gift-card prizes.
Normal store hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
TJX Companies, Inc. – the same company that owns T.J. Maxx – operates nearly 1,000 Marshalls stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The new 25,000-square-foot location at 1130 Boardman-Poland Road offers Mahoning Valley customers ladies’, men’s, juniors’, kids’ apparel plus shoes, accessories, home, pet and beauty merchandise.
“The new Boardman store will be stocked weekly with a new, fresh assortment of the brand name and designer merchandise that our shoppers love,” said Richard Sherr, Marshalls president, in a prepared statement. “Our buyers are fashion experts with a keen sense of style and are passionate about finding the most coveted merchandise for our shoppers for so much less.”
