Dispose of unwanted drugs on Saturday


Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration are urging residents to safely dispose of prescription drugs during the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, which will take place across the country on Saturday.

Ohioans can dispose of any unwanted, unneeded, or expired prescription medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Only pills and other solid prescriptions, such as patches, can be disposed of at a collection site. Liquids and needles will not be accepted.

Local collection sites will include:

Trumbull County: Cortland Police Department, 400 N. High St.; Bazetta Township P.D., 2671 McCleary Jacoby Road, Cortland; Hubbard P.D., 233 School St.; Newton Falls P.D., 19 N. Canal St.

Mahoning County: Boardman P.D., 8299 Market St.; County Sheriff’s office, 110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown; Springfield Township P.D., 3475 E. South Range Road; Austintown P.D., (outdoor drive-through collection) 92 Ohltown Road, Youngstown; Canfield P.D., 104 Lisbon St.; New Middletown P.D., municipal building, 10711 Main St.; Liberty Township P.D., government building, 1315 Churchill-Hubbard Road, Youngstown; Youngstown State University police, front lobby at 266 W. Wood St.

Columbiana county: Columbiana Drug Task Force at Salem P.D., 231 S. Broadway St.; Columbiana P.D. at Sparkle Grocery Store, 108 Village Plaza; Columbiana Drug Task Force at East Liverpool City Hospital, 425 W. Fifth St.
