Boardman High hosts Yes fest

BOARDMAN

The high school today hosted its third annual "Yes Fest," an event that urges students to say "no" to drugs and "yes" to positive influences.

High-school and eighth-grade students heard from Youngstown State University president Jim Tressel and Judge John M. Durkin of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

High-school students also had the chance to sign up for volunteer opportunities with area organizations that set up tables at the school.

The school district started Yes Fest as part of its response to drug-abuse issues among teenagers in the community, including several cases that resulted in overdose deaths.
