Fitch Volleyball wins against Lakeside

On Sept. 15, the Austintown Fitch girls varsity volleyball team beat Ashtabula Lakeside 3-0, with the scores 25-15, 25-20 and 25-21. For Fitch, Keara Katcher had 14 points, three aces, 22 serve receptions and 10 digs. Jayla Crawley had 22 attempts, 10 kills and five blocks. Bree Hunter 20 attempts and 10 assists. Fitch’s record stands at 5-5 for the season and 2-3 for the AAC Red. Junior varisty volleyball also won both of their sets, with the scores of 25-13 and 25-17.

Varsity soccer falls to Canfield

On Sept. 15, the Austintown Fitch boys varsity soccer team lost to Canfield 3-0. For Canfield, Justin Jickess had two goals and Brandon Seybert had one. Canfield also had two assists from David Montazeri and one from Ben Feuer. Fitch took 13 shots, and Canfield took 12. Hunter Klaus had eight saves for Fitch, and Jeff Joseph had 10 saves for Canfield. Fitch’s record is 6-1-0 for the season and 3-1-0 in the AAC Red. Canfield’s record is 4-0-1 for the season and 3-0-1 in the AAC Red.

Girls varsity volleyball wins against Struthers

On Sept. 14, the Austintown Fitch varsity girls volleyball team beat Struthers in three straight sets, with the scores of 25-12, 25-12 and 25-12. Keara Katcher had 23 points, five aces, four digs and 18 serve receptions. Jayla Crawley had nine kills, Maya Martin had 10 assists and Morgan Coleman had two blocks. The junior varisty girls volleyball team also won both of their sets, with the scores of 25-11 and 25-11.

The school year is almost upon us and soon fall sports will begin. Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a fall sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need you help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.
