Stage Left to premiere latest in ‘Jingle’ series

Staff report

LISBON

Stage Left Players will present the premiere of “Just Jingle,” the latest installment in the series of jukebox comedies written and directed by Kandace Cleland, this Saturday at Trinity Playhouse, 234 E. Lincoln Way.

Cleland is also part of the cast in the show. It’s a prequel to her lighthearted “Jingle My Bell” holiday series, which has become a favorite at the theater company in recent years.

Also in the cast are Jacob Nash, Kari Lankford, Vince Ward, Niki Slaven, Bethany Kholos, Ryan Stewart and Dave Bedell.

Once again, the action occurs at Dave & Dee Dee’s Diner in the fall of 1950, with waitresses, cooks, busboys and cheerleaders be-bopping to hits like “Poison Ivy,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Java Jive” and “Don’t Be Cruel.”

It’s all fun until grumpy Lyle Pickering and his wife, Margaret, the detestable meter reader in the village, show up for dinner.

“Just Jingle” runs Saturdays and Sundays only for the next three weekends. Curtain time is 7 p.m. each night.

Tickets are $12 ($10 for senior citizens and students) and can be purchased at StageLeftPlayers.org or at the door.
