Jewelry found in theft suspect who got stuck in elevator in Cincy

CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities in suburban Cincinnati say there’s another twist in the case of two suspected jewelry store thieves who got trapped in an elevator while fleeing and ended up being rescued by firefighters.

Investigators found 26 diamond rings hidden in the elevator, but it turns out there was one more. The Hamilton County sheriff’s office tells WCPO-TV a body-scanning X-ray machine revealed the 61-year-old female suspect had another ring inside a body cavity. Once it was found, she removed it.

Authorities say the woman and a man broke into a Sycamore Township store last week and somehow got stuck in an elevator after a failed attempt to escape via a staircase.

They’re charged with breaking and entering and having criminal tools. The woman also faces drug-related charges.
