Hubbard abduction

GIRARD

Two men were arraigned this week in Girard Municipal Court in an abduction incident reported to Hubbard police Aug. 12.

Robert Powell, 22, of Hubbard, faces a felony abduction charge and a misdemeanor assault charge. James Murphy, 24, also of Hubbard, faces a misdemeanor menacing charge.

A 20-year-old Hubbard woman told police Powell, her friend, had refused to let her leave his pickup truck near South Main Street in Hubbard early Aug. 12, and that Powell ran after her once she left the truck, according to a police report.

The woman told police she feared for her safety. The reports says Powell had punched her boyfriend in the face when the boyfriend arrived to take the woman away from the situation.

Police said that Murphy, a friend of Powell’s, also had made threats and punched the outside of the boyfriend’s car.
