Finalists announced
YOUNGSTOWN
America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, and NASA announced the top 30 finalists from more than 160 submissions of the 3D-Printed Habitat Challenge, a competition to design a 3-D-printed habitat for deep space exploration, including the agency’s journey to Mars.
The design competition called on participants to develop architectural concepts that take advantage of 3-D printing’s capabilities. Images and brief descriptions of each team’s submission can be viewed at www.3dpchallenge.tumblr.com.
Each of the finalists will have models on display at the 2015 World Maker Faire from Saturday through Sunday in New York where they will be judged by a panel of industry experts.

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a celebratory ribbon-cutting for the new location of Evaline’s Bridal, 5200 E. Market St. at 11 a.m. Friday.
Drilling permits
COLUMBUS
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued 15 horizontal-drilling permits for the week ending Sept. 19, with four issued in Belmont County, four issued in Guernsey County, five in Harrison County and two in Noble County. The rig count is at 22.
ODNR lists a total 2,013 permits, 1,591 of which reported drilled with 1,009 producing.
