What: Join Oster, an Emmy award-winning producer, television host and writer, as he shares techniques on how to extend your garden season. Doug will discuss cool weather crops including: root vegetables and greens; plant protection; harvesting and more.

BIRDING WITH JEFF

When: Saturday, 8–9:30 a.m.

What: Jeff Harvey of Wild Birds Unlimited and Audubon Society/Mahoning Valley will lead this walk.

Where: Meet at McGuffey Wildlife Preserve.

Autumn Plant Sale

When: Saturday and Sunday, 9 am.–5 p.m.

What: Ornamental cabbage, gourds, pumpkins, chrysanthemums, plus a large variety of spring-blooming bulbs will be for sale.

Farm Tours

When: Sunday, 1–4 p.m.

What: Enjoy a guided tractor wagon tour of the farm, leaving about every half-hour. Barns are open to visit the animals.

Where: MetroParks Farm

Cost: Free, but donations accepted. Fall-themed craft fee, $1.

BIRD BANDING WITH AL

When: Saturday, 8 a.m.-noon.

What: See live, wild songbirds in the hand and learn why banding is important for conservation. Meet Al outside on the east side of the Visitors Center. Sessions canceled if rain.

Where: Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center Visitors Center, 16146 Daniel St. NE, Minerva.

WOODCARVERS WORKSHOP WITH DON DANFORD

When: Monday, 6:30 p.m.

What: Woodcarving enthusiasts of all skill levels are invited to meet Don in the Visitors Center at 6:30 p.m. Beginners and those just curious about woodcarving are especially welcome to attend. Don enjoys sharing his passion for carving with all interested in learning.
