Sentenced for fleeing

WARREN

Christopher Binion, 43, of West First Street in Niles, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and had his driver’s license suspended for three years Tuesday after pleading guilty to fleeing from a Warren police officer Sept. 28, 2014.

He pleaded guilty earlier in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to failure to comply with the order of a police officer.

An officer spotted Binion on Hamilton Street Southwest at 3:15 a.m. Sept. 28, visiting the rear door of a house and leaving moments later.

When Binion got to his car and spotted the police car, he started driving at a high rate of speed, refusing to stop for stop signs or a traffic light, despite the officer’s lights and siren being activated. Binion’s speed reached 100 miles per hour on Highland Avenue before the officer broke off the chase.

A Warren Township officer later spotted the car behind a house on Highland Avenue in the township. Binion was arrested later coming out of that house.
