Youngstown Community Police kick off crime sweeps tonight

YOUNGSTOWN

Members of the city’s Community Police Unit got at least one handgun and made two drug arrests within minutes of each other tonight on the South Side.

The unit, along with members of the Violent Crimes Task Force and the Adult Parole Authority, will be doing crime sweeps at least once a week in each ward of the city and kicked off the first of the sweeps tonight on the South Side.

Officers also made several traffic stops, and parole agents accompanying them were on the lookout for people wanted on parole violations.
