Summit draws leaders, top officials to YSU today
YOUNGSTOWN — Manufacturers, educators, politicians, community organizers and others gathered Tuesday to talk about the issues and the progress made in growing the area's workforce.
About 100 people are in attendance today at the Rebuilding America Summit at Youngstown State University's Kilcawley Center hosted by the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition, the OH-Penn Collaborative and YSU.
The summit includes a networking breakfast buffet, educational and sponsorship exhibits, breakout sessions and speakers.
Students and guests will have an opportunity to meet with manufacturing companies and career centers.
Much of the discussion this morning focused on collaboration between higher educational institutions and local manufacturers to develop the workforce.
"We have come together because we know this is what we need to do for the community," said Martin Abraham, YSU provost and vice president for academic affairs.
