Police raid Austintown home, find drugs, weapons, 4-day-old baby

AUSTINTOWN — Members of the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force, U.S. Marshals Service and Austintown Police Department this morning raided a township home to execute a search warrant related to an ongoing drug-trafficking investigation.

There, law enforcement officials reportedly found 150 grams of suspected heroin, weapons and ammunition, a “substantial” amount of cash, drug paraphernalia and a 4-day-old baby, who has since been placed in the custody of a family member who does not live at the North Edgehill Avenue house.

Mahoning County Children Services and an ambulance were called to the scene to check on the welfare of the baby, who was born Friday, according to Austintown Detective Lt. Jeff Solic, who is head of the task force.

Three people who are subjects of the investigation were at the residence, Solic said, but no arrests have been made.

“This facet of the investigation is part of a larger investigation, so no arrests were made,” he said.
