Ohio couple charged after baby dies from ingesting heroin

COLUMBUS (AP) — An Ohio couple are charged with involuntary manslaughter and child endangering after their 11-month-old son died from ingesting heroin.

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien says medics pronounced Dominic Dickinson dead after responding to a report of a baby not breathing at a Columbus home on May 13. O’Brien says the baby ingested heroin and fentanyl, a powerful painkiller.

O’Brien said today the grand jury indicted 32-year-old Denise Dickinson and 29-year-old Kyle Black in the death.

The defendants could face up to 11 years in prison if convicted.

The indictment comes a week after a similar indictment charged a mother in the death of her 14-month-old daughter May 27 in Columbus.

O’Brien said that child also ingested heroin and fentanyl.
