Lordstown man faces drug charges after arrest in Boardman

BOARDMAN — A Lordstown man faces felony drug-trafficking charges after township police arrested him Monday after a traffic stop on Shields Road near Market Street.

Aaron Cunningham, 21, is charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking in marijuana and in a Schedule I drug, both of which are felony offenses. 

The charges are because police reportedly found 9.6 grams of suspected marijuana, 6 grams of illegal mushrooms, a marijuana grinder and $2,200 in cash in the vehicle. 

Cunningham also was cited for driving with expired plates and an expired license. 

Township police handled another drug-related incident earlier Monday that led to a Struthers man, who reportedly had to be revived with a drug-overdose antidote, to be charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, and possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. 

William Ciresi, 22, also was cited for failure to maintain control.

The charges stem from an incident Monday morning in which police were dispatched to Southern Boulevard near Terrace Drive in reference to a man passed out in a vehicle. Police reportedly found the vehicle partly off the road, resting against a telephone pole wire. 

The fire department responded to the scene, where firefighters administered Narcan to Ciresi. 

He was transported to an emergency room, and later told police he used heroin before the incident, according to a police report.
