Heart Reach Ministries is hosting its annual Hustle for Heart Reach 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. on Oct. 10 at the Thomas C. Masters Pavilion in Boardman Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

Participants can register online at www. heartreach.com. The cost for early registration is $15; the cost the day of the race is $20.

Healthful eating

A workshop, “Healthy Eating for You: Eating Mindfulness,” is set for 12:30 to 2 p.m. next Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital’s Willow Room, 8401 Market St.

Registered dietitian and community educator Bridget Lackey will lead the informational discussion and answer questions.

The presentation, provided by Mercy Health Youngstown, formerly Humility of Mary Health Partners, is free and open to the public. Reservations are appreciated. Call 330-480-3070. Parking is free.

Cancer awareness

Marla Sustin, CNP, of University Hospitals in Cleveland, and Dr. Arthur Greenbaum, a radiologist/oncologist with ValleyCare Health Systems, will be the main speakers at “Uplift,” a breast-cancer awareness event, that begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane.

The event, sponsored by the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation, is free and open to the public. It features wine, hors d’oeuvres and desserts. The speakers begin at 6:15 p.m.

Flu vaccines

AUSTINTOWN

The Mahoning County District Board of Health will offer quadrivalent nasal spray, trivalent short-needle intra-dermal and high-dose trivalent flu vaccines at several locations in October.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone age 6 months and over get an influenza vaccine, said Chris Cunningham, director of nursing.

The cost for the flu shots are: trivalent and intradermal, $40; nasal spray, $45; high-dose trivalent flu vaccine for those 65 and older, $55.

No appointment is necessary. Most private insurances are accepted. Bring insurance cards and Medicare and Medicaid cards so the cost of the vaccine can be billed.
