“The Big Bang Theory” (8 p.m., CBS): TV’s most popular sitcom, “The Big Bang Theory,” launches a new season with some awkward tension. Seems Penny (Kaley Cuoco- Sweeting) is taken aback when Leonard (Johnny Galecki) confesses he kissed another woman.

“The Voice” (8 p.m., NBC): “The Voice” is back in action and in search of a new pop star who won’t fade into obscurity as soon as the season ends. Gwen Stefani rejoins judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams in the hot seats.

“Life in Pieces” (8:30 p.m., CBS): This new interconnected “Modern Family”-ish comedy sports a great cast but could use sharper writing. Other premieres of new series tonight include “Minority Report” (9 p.m., Fox) and “Blindspot” (10 p.m., NBC).

Dana’s Got Talent includes 6 singers

YOUNGSTOWN

The Dana School of Music’s inaugural Dana’s Got Talent voice scholarship competition will be Sept. 27 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend the free event.

Six singers, all majoring in voice, will compete for two cash awards: a $3,500 scholarship and a $500 audience-favorite award. Each singer will present two selections, one in English and one in Italian. The competition and cash awards are underwritten by the Italian Scholarship League.

The competitors are: Kathleen Bachtel, graduate student, Massillon; Rebecca Enlow, senior, Salem; Sierra McCorvey, senior, Warren; Victor Cardamone, senior, Apollo, Pa.; Nicholas Hazelton, sophomore, Grove City, Pa.; and Paul Hill, senior, Youngstown. Accompaniment will be provided by Jan Crews.

Dana alumnus Gary Lehman, heldentenor, and his wife, Susan Foster, soprano, are judges for the event.

Additionally, jazz performance students, under the direction of Kent Engelhardt, will perform, as will the Dana Chorale, under the direction of Hae-Jong Lee. For information, call 330-941-2307.
