POLICE CALLS

A summary of police activity in the cities of Canfield, Girard and Hubbard and Austintown and Liberty townships:

CANFIELD

Sept. 1

Drug abuse: Police arrested Peter Fuchs, 28, of Chestnut Street, West Middlesex, Pa., on two counts of drug possession, drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.

Warrant: Police arrested Victor Kirkpatrick, 27, of Canton, on a Canfield Mayor’s Court warrant for failure to appear.

Sept. 3

Warrant: Police arrested Grace Clutter, 41, of Union Street, Warren, on a warrant for failure to appear in mayor’s court.

AUSTINTOWN

Sept. 7

Recovered property: An Ohio vehicle registration was recovered at a home in the 1000 block of Brockton Drive.

Domestic violence: Police arrested Brian Malysa, 32, homeless, on a domestic-violence charge at a home in the 100 block of Carnegie Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A male suspect kicked in the front door of a home in the 30 block of Benton Avenue.

Sept. 8

Theft: Money was withdrawn from an ATM without consent at Country Fair, 1143 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Criminal mischief: Blue paint was splashed on a building and a light at a home in the 4000 block of Deer Creek Court.

Theft: Laundry detergent, bleach and beef jerky were taken from Speedway, 4401 Kirk Road.

Disorderly conduct: Police issued a summons to Donald Zebrasky,46, of Mooreland Drive, Canfield, for disorderly conduct at the Comfort Inn, 5425 Clarkins Drive.

Recovered property: A Global cash card was located at a home in the 900 block of Collins Street.

Theft: A red bicycle was taken at Family Farm and Home, 4477 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: An iPad, laptop and GPS were taken from a home in the 30 block of Kroeck Avenue.

Sept. 9

Recovered property: Items stolen from an auto in the parking lot in the 400 block of South Raccoon Road were recovered.

Breaking and entering: A cash register was stolen at Carmen’s Barber Shop, 5620 Mahoning Ave.

Recovered property: A license plate was recovered at Meridian Arms, 650 S. Meridian Road.

Theft: A backpack was stolen from an auto parked in the 1000 block of S. Raccoon Road. Items in the backpack were recovered but not the backpack.

Vehicle theft: A 2010 Chevrolet Equinox was stolen at Greenwood Chevrolet, 4695 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: An Xbox console and $40 were stolen from an apartment in the 1000 block of Compass West.

Theft: A radio face plate was stolen from an auto parked in the 400 block of South Raccoon Road.

Criminal trespass: An ex-husband entered a residence without permission in the 4000 block of Sheffield Drive.

Theft: Police arrested Garrett Wycoff,18, of Edinburgh Drive, on a theft charge. Police accused him of taking a beverage valued at $3.25 from Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

Burglary: Jewelry was taken from a home in the 6000 block of South Timberidge Avenue.

Domestic violence: Police arrested Darren Jamison, 24, of Mistletoe Avenue, Youngstown, on a domestic-violence charge.

Warrant: Police issued a summons to Michael Frederick, 27, of Edgewater Street Northeast, Warren, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, and arrested Edward Pemberton, 27, of Hennhyde Drive, Warren, on a warrant for contempt of court.

Sept. 10

Recovered property: A woman’s wallet was recovered at Central Park West in the 4000 block of New Hampshire Court.

Theft: Police arrested Matthew Porter, 33, of Fairfield School Road, Columbiana, on a theft charge. He is accused of stealing ink from Walmart and returning it for a gift card at the store.

Theft: A Samsung Galaxy4 tablet was stolen from Taco Bell, 4523 Mahoning Ave.

Warrant: Police arrested John Willison, 49, of Parkgate Avenue, on a warrant for theft.

Criminal trespassing: Police issued a summons to Michelle Enderton, 42, of Burton Street, Warren, on a charge of criminal trespassing at the TA Travel Center, 5400 Seventy-Six Drive.

Sept. 11

Drug offense: Police issued a summons to Jermain Watson, 19, of Cassius Avenue, Youngstown, on charges of possession of marijuana.

Drug offense: Police issued a summons to Willie Shakoov, 44, of Sherwood Avenue, Youngstown, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Drug offense: Police arrested Courtney Hostutler, 18, of Carnegie Avenue, on charges of possession of marijuana and trafficking in marijuana.

Sept. 12

Warrant: Police arrested Nathaniel Cheotham, 25, of Lakewood Avenue, Youngstown, on a warrant for failure to comply and resisting arrest.

Disorderly conduct: Police arrested Sean Cregan, 44, and Jose Hernandez, 40, both of Indianola Avenue, Youngstown, on charges of disorderly conduct at McDonald’s, 1709 S. Raccoon Road.

Sept. 13

Drug offense: Police issued a summons to Roderick Jordan, 23, of Arizona, on a charge of possession of marijuana.

Theft: A total of $65 was taken Sept. 11 at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course, 777 Hollywood Drive.

Theft: A total of $357.50 in rolled coins was stolen from a home in the 4000 block of Rhode Island Drive.

Theft: A .380 Ruger pistol was stolen from the Ice House Inn, 5516 W. Webb Road.

Disorderly conduct: Police issued a summons to Mark Hernandez, 18, of Wilcox Road, on a charge of disorderly conduct.

Fraud: An Internet scam was reported at a home in the 100 block of Parkgate Avenue.

Disorderly conduct: Police arrested Peter Harasyn, 36, of Forest Hill Drive, on a charge of disorderly conduct.

Lost or stolen property: A wallet was lost or stolen at Giant Eagle, 5220 Mahoning Ave.

HUBBARD

Sept. 9

Criminal mischief: A man told police someone had tossed eggs at his mother’s vehicle she was selling in the 100 block of Myron Street.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Parish Avenue led to a summons charging 26-year-old Vincent M. Cimoric of Lilac Drive, West Middlesex, Pa., with marijuana possession and driving under suspension. A prescription bottle with a leafy substance thought to be marijuana was found, a report said.

Sept. 11

Arrest: Authorities took custody of 19-year-old Shedrick D. Nichols of Avon Street, Youngstown. Nichols was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Menacing: A woman told officers a Hubbard man, 40, came to her Rebecca Avenue home and made a threatening statement against her son.

Domestic violence: Stefanie M. Cook, 31, of New York Lane, Hubbard, and 35-year-old Dominic C. Mshar of Stewart Avenue, Hubbard, faced felony domestic-violence charges after Mshar alleged that during an argument, Cook had punched his right eye area and Cook alleged Mshar had grabbed her throat and tried to push her against a wall. Cook also was wanted on a Warren Municipal Court warrant.

Theft: A man reported a car key was removed from his mother’s Jacobs Road residence.

Possible burglary: Police received a report of a possible break-in at a residence in the 200 block of West Park Avenue.

Sept. 12

Arrest: Liberty Township authorities handed 21-year-old Shaquale M. Tensley to Hubbard police. Tensley, of Meek Street, Sharon, Pa., was wanted on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear for a pretrial hearing.

Suspicious activity: A Mount Pleasant, S.C., woman in the 300 block of Stewart Avenue told officers two men in a white minivan had tried to entice her to approach their vehicle under the guise of trying to sell food items to her. The men then drove away.

Drug paraphernalia: A charge was pending against a 40-year-old Hubbard man after officers reported having found someone asleep in a vehicle in the 700 block of West Liberty Street. A suspected crack-cocaine pipe was found, they alleged.

Domestic violence: Dominic C. Mshar, 35, of Stewart Avenue, Hubbard, was charged with the crime after his sister alleged Mshar had threatened to break her arms and beat her up.

LIBERTY

Sept. 9

Criminal damaging: A man who had car trouble while driving near Gypsy Lane suspected someone had placed sugar in his gas tank. He also found that the power-steering-fluid cap was missing.

Sept. 10

Arrest: Police responded to a large, noisy gathering of people in the 40 block of Trumbull Court, where they charged 31-year-old Osman A. Marroquin of Mansell Drive, Youngstown, with obstructing official business, disorderly conduct while intoxicated and criminal trespassing. An intoxicated Marroquin yelled at several people in the complex and failed to follow officers’ directions, they said.

Aggravated menacing: Three employees with a West Liberty Street business told authorities a Liberty man, 51, threatened to kill them and burn down their homes after having become irate about business dealings.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Interstate 80 resulted in the arrest of Shedrick D. Nichols, 19, of Avon Street, Youngstown, on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Domestic violence: Nathan A. McCurdy, 22, of Townsend Avenue, Liberty, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged that McCurdy had twice spit on her, then wrapped a pair of sweat pants around her ankle in an effort to drag her off a bed. Their argument apparently started after the victim had become upset by the way he disciplined a child, a report showed.

Theft: A Youngstown woman, 28, reportedly stole a half-gallon of ice cream from a Speedway gas station, 4210 Belmont Ave.

Sept. 11

Fraud: An official with Aim Leasing, 4944 Belmont Ave., reported having gotten an email directing that money be transferred to an account with another person’s permission, then receiving a confirmation email before getting a call that the person had never authorized the transfer.

Child endangerment: Police were dispatched to the 3200 block of Belmont Avenue, where they reported finding a 1-year-old child alone in a vehicle. The windows were down and the child was discovered unharmed, and the situation was to be forwarded to Mahoning County Children Services Board, a police report showed.

Damage: Two tenants reportedly left an apartment in the 4600 block of Michigan Boulevard without notice before $170,000 in damage was done to the duplex.

Arrest: Police on Logan Avenue pulled over and took into custody 51-year-old Jacqueline G. Tate of Anthony Circle, Hubbard, on charges of operating a vehicle impaired and possession of dangerous drugs after alleging Tate had a bottle containing several varieties of pills.

Sept. 12

Criminal damaging: An Underwood Drive woman noticed damage to an aluminum door’s molding at her home.

Theft: A 54-year-old Vienna woman was detained but not charged after two packages of steaks were stolen from Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave.

Weapon: Police near state Route 11 conducted a vehicle check, then charged 22-year-old Levi S. Dunn of Trumbull Court, Liberty, with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, after saying Dunn had a loaded semiautomatic firearm on the passenger seat.

Sept. 13

Harassment: A Holly Drive woman said she received a series of threatening and profane text messages and calls.

Criminal mischief: A Crews Hood Drive man saw that someone had spray-painted a portion of his driveway and yard.

Trespassing: Eric J. Wallace, 26, of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Youngstown, was charged with criminal trespassing after a worker for a Belmont Avenue gas station alleged Wallace, who was not permitted on the property, had been asking customers for money.

Sept. 14

Possible theft: A Youngstown woman reported her debit card lost or stolen while at a Belmont Avenue fast-food restaurant.

Sept. 15

Arrest: Campbell police at the Mahoning County jail handed 56-year-old Donald B. Bevly of Porter Avenue, Campbell, to township authorities. Bevly was wanted on a township warrant.

Trespassing: While responding to a suspicious person at a Belmont Avenue gas station, officers charged Eric J. Wallace of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Youngstown, with criminal trespassing. A clerk told police the 26-year-old Wallace was harassing customers and had been removed from the property previously, a report stated.

GIRARD

Sept. 10

Theft: The manager of a piece of property in the 100 block of South Market Street discovered someone had illegally configured an electrical wire so as to steal electricity from the structure.

Theft: A man reported a $500 bicycle stolen while in the 100 block of East Prospect Street.

Sept. 12

Arrest: Officers took custody of Belafonte L. Davis, 29, of Canfield Road, Youngstown. He was wanted on two Girard warrants.

Sept. 14

Attempted theft: A North Avenue woman told police a neighbor had tried to claim a package that was being delivered to the accuser’s apartment.

Theft: A $60 satellite-radio receiver was taken from a car in the 500 block of Park Avenue.

Theft: A Marshall Road man who had retrieved his lost wallet noticed four credit cards missing.

Arrest: Authorities responding to a disturbance in the 300 block of Indiana Avenue took into custody 25-year-old Daniel Lopez of Indiana, Girard, on a disorderly-conduct charge after saying Lopez had refused to calm down and comply with officers.

Criminal mischief: Two large windows were broken at a Trumbull Avenue furniture business. The damage estimate was $2,000.
