IRS reminds parents, students to check for tax credits

The Internal Revenue Service reminded Ohio parents and students to check eligibility for either of two education tax credits for the 2015 federal income-tax returns.

The American Opportunity Tax Credit or Lifetime Learning Credit is available to taxpayers who pay qualifying expenses for an eligible student.

Eligible students include the taxpayer, spouse and dependents.

The AOTC provides a credit for each eligible student, while the LLC provides a maximum credit per tax return.

Area banks to talk business loans at breakfast event

The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce will host a “Business Breakfast” at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the Dutch Haus Restaurant, 14895 South Ave. Ext.

Information on Business Loan Acquisition will be provided by representatives from Home Savings & Loan, Farmers National Bank, Huntington National Bank and Chase Bank.

Information will be provided on business loan changes and tips for acquiring a business loan.

Chamber member cost is $10 per person; nonmember cost is $15 per person.

Business, owner graduate from Hermitage incubator

HERMITAGE, PA.

All Clear Transitions LLC and its owner, Linda Richardson, recently graduated from eCenter@LindenPointe, a business incubator in Hermitage.

All Clear Transitions will operate as GlobalDoc Inc., a global provider of translation services and software development.

GlobalDoc’s offerings are supported with strategic operations in Atlanta, Bangalore, London and Singapore.

Richardson will join the GlobalDoc team as director of business development in the U.S. market.

She said it was a logical step to team up with a company that has been in the industry since 1993.

Dominion East offers community grants

YOUNGSTOWN

Dominion East Ohio and the Dominion Foundation will award $110,000 in unrestricted Community Impact Award grants, which include a Workforce Development Impact Award of $10,000 to area nonprofits that have made an impact on the community.

Entries will be judged by a group of community leaders from Dominion’s service area.

Winners will be recognized in the March 2016 issue of Inside Business Magazine.
