Drug take-back day is Saturday at two Trumbull sites
Staff report
Two police departments in Trumbull County are participating in National Prescription Drug Take-Back day Saturday.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Bazetta Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.
It will take place at the police department, 2671 McCleary Jacoby Road. The DEA cannot accept liquids, needles or sharps, only pills or patches.
Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.
The Liberty Township Police Department also will have have its take-back day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the township administration building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.
A township police officer will be present to supervise the collection. The service is free and anonymous at both locations.
