LIBERTY

For many Americans, summer is synonymous with long days, barbecue and, of course, baseball.

The Liberty Township Baseball Association hosts programs for children age 4 to 18. About 200 players, from communities including Liberty, Girard, McDonald and Mineral Ridge participate, association President Jim Spisak said.

Today, the association will host Liberty’s third annual “Community Day” to raise money for new dugouts and field repairs. The event begins at 3 p.m. at Center Park, which is behind the Liberty Township administration building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

The township partners with the association to maintain the park.

The event, sponsored by Mr. Rooter Plumbing, includes games, food and bounce-a-rounds. The Liberty High School football team will host a meet and greet at 6 p.m. The cover band Rage performs at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for the concert are $2 per person or a maximum of $10 per family.
