GIRARD

A special praise worship service with music and prayer is planned for 7 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Churchill Road.

A Christian band will play. Refreshments will be served.

Commissioning service

HUBBARD

The Rev. Michael Swierz, new pastor at St. Patrick Church, 357 N. Main St., and president of St. Joseph the Provider Catholic School in Youngstown, will conduct a commissioning service at the 11 a.m. Mass Sunday.

The service will include more than 75 participants from St. Patrick school and church and St. Joseph the Provider School.

The commissioning service was started by the Vatican in 1935, asking each country to acknowledge the importance of the people who serve the community as catechists and honor those who serve the Christian community.

Healing conference

CANFIELD

Dr. Grant and Kathy Mullen of Niagara Falls, Canada, will be guest speakers at the fall healing conference at Lucille Orr Ministries, Lifecare Ministry Center, 5357 S. Raccoon Road.

The Mullens will present free programs at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday.

He is a mental health physician who lectures on emotional recovery and healthy relationships. She is a retired occupational therapist. She also is a prayer ministry counselor and worship artist.

Missionary event

CORTLAND

“Jesus, Jihad and Peace Missionary Concerence” is planned at Calvary Bible Church, 2878 Warren-Meadville Road.

Sessins will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and Sept. 26 and from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 27.

The conference is a biblical perspective by Irfan Adbulatif, a missionary reaching Muslim people for Christ through Light of Life Ministry; Bill Aikens, a missionary with Israel’s Hope Ministries U.S.A.; and Dr. Bill Finnigan, a professor, author and Bible scholar.

Each evening will end with discussion and refreshments. The Sept. 27 service will be followed by a dinner with the missionaries and a closing service at 2 p.m.

Fall revival set

YOUNGSTOWN

Mount Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Ave., will host a citywide fall revival next week. Pastor Lock Beachum Jr. of Victory Christian Center in Liberty will lead services at 7 p.m. nightly.

Churches invited to participate are: Monday, Shiloh Baptist, Gospel Temple and Greater Liberty, all Campbell; Tuesday, Elizabeth Baptist, New Hope Baptist and Jerusalem Baptist; Wednesday, Tabernacle Baptist, Antioch Baptist and Union Baptist; Thursday, New Bethel Baptist, Calvary Ministries International and Rising Star Baptist; and Friday, Mount Zion Baptist, VCC in Liberty and Greater Friendship Baptist Church.

St. Therese novena

NORTH JACKSON

The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 N. Lipkey Road, will conduct its annual novena to St. Therese from Wednesday through Oct. 1. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 6 p.m. and novena prayers will follow on weekdays. Benediction and novena prayers will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Sept. 26 and 27.
