ODOT announces new lane restrictions as part of I-80 project

Staff report

AUSTINTOWN

As construction continues on Interstate 80, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced some new lane restrictions Friday.

Beginning Tuesday, Interstate 76 westbound at the Ohio Turnpike will be reduced to one lane nightly between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. through next Saturday for pavement replacement.

Until further notice, these restrictions remain in place: I-80 westbound between state Route 46 and the turnpike in Austintown has various nightly lane restrictions; and the ramp from state Route 11 northbound to I-80 eastbound is closed for a bridge replacement and widening.

Two lanes of traffic – the far-right lane and right shoulder – are open on I-80 eastbound between Route 46 and the Trumbull County line.

This work is part of a $108.4 million project to widen I-80 between Route 11 and state Route 193. The project is scheduled for completion in July 2018.

In Youngstown, as part of a $17 million project to repair the U.S. Route 62 bridge over the Mahoning River, Poland Avenue, Cedar Street and the railroad, the entrance ramp from Himrod Avenue to Route 62 westbound is closed through Thursday for bridge construction. The detour is Lane Avenue to Rayen Avenue to Albert Street.

The Route 62 bridge between South and Himrod avenues remains reduced to one lane in each direction until further notice.
