Chorale reveals concert season

The Mahoning Valley Chorale, under the direction of Kris Harper, has announced its 2015-16 concert season.

Oct. 9: Fundraiser at Imbibe, 124 W. Federal St., downtown, at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10 and includes a mini-concert, hors d’oeuvres, basket raffle and DJ.

Oct. 30: Trick-or-treat concert at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave. Adults and children are encouraged to attend in costume for a contest. Children will receive treat bags.

Dec. 9: “A Gospel Christmas,” 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Church, with jazz and gospel singer and pianist Howard Howell.

Feb. 19-20: The chorale will take part in the “Vaudeville at the Vic” fundraiser at the Victorian Players, 702 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.

March 13: “Sweet Music and Poetry” concert at 3 p.m. at St. Angela Merici Parish, 400 Lincoln Park Drive.

April 24: “A Taste of Italy” concert at 3 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1125 Turin Ave. Admission is $15 and includes hors d’oeuvres and wine.

A “Back To the ’60s” concert will be presented next summer.

The chorale also is starting the Southside Fine Arts Academy in the Fairview Arts and Outreach Center, 4220 Youngstown-Poland Road, for children. It will offer free instruction in voice, piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and guitar, plus dance, visual arts, acting and creative writing, with experienced instructors.
