Children's car-seat safety check set Saturday in Austintown

AUSTINTOWN — Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley and Safe Kids Mahoning Valley are hosting a child passenger event during from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Chevrolet, 4695 Mahoning Ave.

The purpose of the event, that will bein the service drive of the former Hummer building at the dealership, is to raise awareness of properly installed child seats in vehicles and to bring attention to the importance of fixing recalled car seats. This week is national Child Passenger Safety Week.

Also, certified child passenger safety technicians will provide free guidance on proper installation of child safety and booster seats and educate parents on how to register their car seats with the manufacturer so they’re more aware of recall notices when they happen.
