Man thinks he and son were poisoned by methamphetamine in hotel coffee maker

KEARNEY, Neb.

A Nebraska man believes he and his 2-year-old son were poisoned by a methamphetamine-tainted coffee maker at an Omaha hotel.

Travis and Amber Richard and their children spent Labor Day weekend in Omaha.

He says he used the coffee maker and coffee package in their room Sept. 6 and began to feel weird within 20 minutes of drinking the coffee.

He says his son also took a sip and got sick on the drive back home to Pleasanton. He sought medical treatment for himself and his son and is awaiting confirmation from tests.

Omaha police are investigating the incident, but say they doubt the coffee maker was used to make meth. It’s unclear whether a trace of the drug was left by someone using the coffee maker to hide meth.

Burglary suspects make poor getaway: police station

ROSWELL, Ga.

Authorities say two suspects in a drugstore burglary chose one of the worst possible places to make their getaway: the police station.

Police say the men ran from the business, ending up at the back gate of the Roswell police station.

Roswell police say an officer on patrol heard an alarm coming from the Wender and Roberts Pharmacy about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say the officer spotted three men wearing masks and gloves run from the business. One was taken into custody, but two others fled.

Authorities say a police dog tracked the two fleeing suspects to the rear gate of the Roswell Police Department, where both were apprehended.

The suspects’ names weren’t released.

Man clocked at 112 mph was headed to court for past speeding

ROYALTON, Vt.

A driver clocked at 112 mph on an interstate in Vermont told police he was heading to traffic court to take care of a speeding ticket.

Trooper Rich Slusser says the 33-year-old man from West Hartford, Conn., also was weaving in and out of traffic in Royalton on Interstate 89 before he was pulled over last week. The speed limit on the interstate is 65 mph.

The driver has been charged with excessive speeding and negligent operation.

Slusser says the man was given a citation ordering him to appear in Vermont Superior Court in White River Junction on Oct. 27.
