Struthers environmental science students gather data Friday at Yellow Creek Park
STRUTHERS — Advanced Placement Environmental Science students at Struthers High School will roll up their sleeves for a day of hands-on data-gathering Friday.
Weather permitting, students will travel to Yellow Creek Park and conduct a series of tests to gauge the environmental health of the park’s stream. Students will then produce a report on their findings.
Geoff Malcomson teaches the course, which is now in its second year at Struthers, according to a news release.
A $7,000 grant from the AP Opportunity Program paid for equipment to make the field testing possible. Money from the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments for instructor training and additional equipment supplemented that donation.
