Vacant house fire

YOUNGSTOWN

Fire reports said a blaze about 9 p.m. Monday at a vacant home at 161 W. Princeton Ave. spread to a nearby 165 W. Princeton Ave. home.

Reports said the first home was completely engulfed by flames, and firefighters had to attack the fire in the second house at the back of the home. Reports said that while the first house was destroyed, the second home sustained extensive damage, one of the reasons being that there were no windows, which made the fire easier to get inside.

Damage at the first home is listed at $3,000 and the second home at $9,400. Firefighters also had to protect a house on the other side of the 161 W. Princeton Ave. home that was occupied. They managed to stave off the flames there, although some of the siding was melted, reports said.
