Fundraiser is Friday in Boardman to honor the late Michael Covert

BOARDMAN — An event to honor Michael Covert and benefit the Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association of America will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at Lanai Lounge, 7631 South Ave.

There will be a basket auction, 50-50 raffle, food and drink specials and music and dancing at the event.

Covert, who died June 15, 2013, suffered from Epidermolysis Bullosa, a rare genetic connective tissue disorder that causes extremely fragile skin that blisters and tears easily from friction or trauma. There is no cure.
