Boardman police arrest brothers on assault charges

Staff report

BOARDMAN

Brothers face felony charges after they purportedly attacked someone at Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Charleston Jennings, 31, of Youngstown, and Patrick James, 36, of Struthers, are charged with felonious assault, felony vandalism and misdemeanor counts of aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct.

James also is charged with obstructing official business.

The charges stem from an incident early Tuesday in which Jennings and James purportedly assaulted a man in the store, causing injuries.

The victim was transported to a hospital emergency room for treatment of possible broken ribs.

Jennings and James also reportedly threatened another man who was with the victim, saying they would kill the man and his family, police said.

The charge of obstructing official business is because James purportedly told a police officer, “Nuts ... Deez Nuts,” when the officer asked for his name.

Jennings and James were taken to the Mahoning County jail. They are scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court here Thursday.
