WARREN

A not-guilty plea was entered for Azhiek E. Bennett, 19, of Draper Street Southeast, to a felony charge of failure to comply with the orders of a police officer after a chase late Sunday.

Police said they were flashing a spotlight on a car in the parking lot of the former St. Joseph Health Center on Tod Avenue Northwest at 11:30 p.m. when the driver turned on the car and sped away.

Officers chased the vehicle on Tod Avenue, but the vehicle went through a red light and then turned onto Sylvan Street, where a trooper from the Ohio State Highway Patrol making an unrelated traffic stop ordered Bennett to get out of his vehicle. A Warren police officer arrested Bennett.

Police found two prescription bottles in the car with an unidentified substance inside.

Bond was set at $5,000 in Warren Municipal Court.
