Police issue report for missing man

YOUNGSTOWN

Police have issued a missing-persons report for Larrimore Snipes, 72, of Youngstown.

An administrator at Danridge Nursing Home on Maranatha Drive on the city’s East Side told police that Snipes hasn’t been since he left the home about 1:45 a.m. Monday.

The administrator said a family member signed Snipes out of the home about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, and that Snipes had returned to the home briefly at 1:30 a.m. Monday before he left again. Larrimore is black, 5 foot 7 inches tall and weighs 148 pounds. He was last seen wearing tennis shoes and jeans with a red shirt, brown jacket and blue baseball cap.

Snipes may need medical attention. Anyone with information about his whereabouts should call 911 or the Attorney General Missing Persons Unit at 866-693-9171.

Work on bikeway

YOUNGSTOWN

Portions of the Mill Creek MetroParks Bikeway will be closed periodically starting today for about two weeks for a preventive maintenance project. Adjacent facilities such as the MetroParks Farm and the Kirk Road Trailhead will remain open and accessible to the public while sections of the bikeway are closed. In case of inclement weather, the work schedule will be delayed and adjusted.

Bessemer chief dies

BESSEMER, PA.

The Bessemer Borough Police Department said Monday that police Chief Thomas Macri, 56, died after he apparently shot himself while cleaning a gun, according to The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV.

The borough hired him in July 2010 after he retired from the New Castle Police Department. He was also a part-time member of the Shenango Township Police Department and the New Beaver Borough Police Department in Lawrence County.
