Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God and senior spinning at 9, monthly membership meeting at 9:30, piloxing, bingo, painting class, beginner computer class and quilting at 10, and lunch and advanced computer class at noon; Tuesday, active exercise and pilates at 8 a.m., video class: thermodynamics and trip to IKEA in Pittsburgh at 9, S.O.S. at 9:30, bingo, quilting and crocheting at 10, line dancing at 10:30, chair yoga at 11:30 and lunch and Windows 10 class at noon; Wednesday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God and blood pressure checks at 9, intermediate computer class, bingo, quilting and Body Pump at 10, senior spinning at 10:30, yoga and advanced computer class at 11:30, $3 pizza party at noon and TOPS at 1 p.m.; Thursday, active exercise at 8 a.m., video class: inventions that changed the world at 8:50, vets helping vets and wood carving at 9, S.O.S. at 9:30, chair yoga, quilting and crocheting at 10, knitting at 11 and lunch/grocery bingo at noon; and Friday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God, video class: Skeptics American History and senior spinning S at 9, senior spinning E at 9:30, bingo and quilting at 10, Drums Alive at 10:15, and lunch and learn: basic estate planning at 11:30. Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home, or a visit at home. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make a Difference day projects. The next meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at Shepherd of the Valley, 4100 North River Road, Warren. Reservations are necessary for the dinner at 5 p.m., which costs $6.50 per person. Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., 330-544-3676, has planned the following: Niles SCOPE is partnering with Mercy Health to offer free health screenings from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the center. Rashaun Speed, R.N., will administer blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings. An eight-hour fast is recommended. Registration is recommended by calling the center. Sept. 22 will be a casino trip to Mountaineer, cost is $22 with $25 in slots. The bus pickup will be at 8 a.m. and return approximately 4:30 p.m. Payment is required with reservation. Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., will host Gentle Yoga class starting Thursday. The classes continue each Thursday at 1:15 p.m. for 45 minutes. The cost is $1 per class. To join, visit the center Thursday or call 330-544-3676 for information.
