Animal Charity of Ohio is hosting the Rover Fun Run 3K/5K at 10 a.m. Oct. 3 at Mill Creek MetroParks Wick Recreation Area, 1861 McCollum Road. Entry fees are $25 for single racers, $50 for four-runner families, and free for dogs. Search Animal Charity Rover Fun Run @Active.com to register. All proceeds benefit Animal Charity of Ohio. Adoptable dogs will be on hand to find a special home. There will be a carnival-themed party after the race.

Lawrence Co. event
BUTLER, Pa.
The Lawrence County Department of Planning and Community Development is hosting a day of outdoor adventure and education Saturday so the public can learn what is being planned for the future. The event will include scheduled outdoor activities at various locations as well as indoor public-input sessions at Butler County Community College, Lawrence Crossing Campus, 107 College Drive.
Participants can walk, run or bike the Stavich Trail, see and hear proposed county plans and initiatives, paddle the Shenango River, learn about the West Park Nature Center, meet local farmers and food sources and provide input into the county’s future. Road closings
HARTFORD
Five Points Hartford Road, between state Route 7 and Bushnell Campbell Road, will be closed from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday for the Hartford Apple Festival Parade. Hartford Township Police Department, along with neighboring law-enforcement agencies, will coordinate traffic control.
Free VHS movies
HUBBARD
Hubbard Friends of the Library will give away more than 500 gently used VHS tapes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Hubbard Public Library. They range from Hollywood blockbusters to children’s movies to documentaries.
