Chief of association

Judge Cheryl L. Waite of the 7th District Court of Appeals has been elected chief judge of the Ohio Courts of Appeals Judges Association, which consists of 69 appeals court judges serving on Ohio’s 12 appellate courts.

The Youngstown-based 7th District Court of Appeals hears appeals from trial courts in Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson, Mahoning, Monroe and Noble counties.

A 1982 honors graduate of Youngstown State University and a 1985 graduate of the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Judge Waite was an assistant Youngstown law director before joining the appellate court in 1996.

Judge Waite lives in Boardman with her husband, Atty. Edwin Romero. They have two children.

Chemistry degree

Krista Cunningham, formerly of Boardman, graduated Aug. 9 from Ohio State University with a doctorate in chemistry.

Cunningham is a 2006 graduate of Boardman High School and received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Youngstown State University in 2010.

She is the daughter of Chris and Mike Cunningham of Boardman. She lives in Columbus and works for OSU and Otterbein University.
