Church Women United Units conduct area meetings in the fall to train leadership, share information and inspiration and provide opportunities as an ecumenical group of Christian women.

Area “B” Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St. Registration will take place from 8:30 to 9 a.m. with a continental breakfast served.

The theme is “Companions On A Journey” from Psalms 139:1-3.

There are two workshops – “Economic Justice in Our Communities” and “Environment Care.”

Information from the state president and state board will be presented. Unit presidents will deliver reports.

Labyrinth walk

VILLA MARIA, PA.

Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will host a first guided labyrinth walk of the season from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the outdoor labyrinth on the theme “Path of Peace.”

The labyrinth at Villa Maria is a replica of the one found in Chartres Cathedral in France.

Guided walks are offered at no charge. Free-will offerings are accepted to help continue services.

The Mass Choir of Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 1232 Hill St., directed by Darrel Williams, will host a free musical at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Among performers will be Percession, The Sons of Joy, Terre’ Snead-Brownlee, Makala Moore and a mime group from Community Baptist in Sharon, Pa.

New church

The Love Deliverance Center of the Apostolic Faith, 505 W. Boston Ave., a new church, will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Bishop Paul J. Pegues III will preach.

Brunch provided by Soul Food Sensation and fellowship will follow.

Youth choir

WARREN

Warren City Wide Youth Choir will host its first “Salute to Warren’s Musical Heroes” and honor Elder Eddie Howard Jr. during a program at 6 p.m. Sept. 20 at North Mar Church, 3855 E. Market St.

Howard, a Warren native who resides in Florida, is known nationally as an accomplished musician, singer, songwriter, recording artist, producer and arranger. He has worked with gospel and jazz artists and has served as a mentor to fellow Warren natives, jazz trumpeter Sean Jones and pianist Alton Merrell Jr.

Special guests will include recording artist Mark Jackson and Final Call, soloist and recording artist Gail Nevels-Stringer, pianist Elder Michael Herron and St. James Church of God in Christ Gospel Choir.

Festivities will include a special tribute by Warren City Wide Youth Choir.

Ticket donations are $10 for adults and $5 for children age 5-12. Tickets can be obtained online at www.mkt.com/wcwyc, at North Mar Church, Agape Assembly Church, or at the door the night of the event.

All proceeds benefit the WCWYC Scholarship Fund.

Founded in 2011, the choir involves 100 youth, teens and young adults.

The scholarship fund has distributed $20,000 to graduating participants in five years.
