POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:
GIRARD
Sept. 6
Arrests: Police filed charges of contributing to the delinquency of minors against Jay Emmert, 26, of East Wilson Avenue, Girard; Sevth Chace, 18, of Compass West Drive, Austintown; Dominick Heckathorn, 18, of Wilson Avenue, Girard; and Bradley Long, 18, of East Howard Street, Girard, after alleging they planned to take two girls, 15 and 16, who were with them to Liberty Township Park around 2 a.m.
Attempted breaking and entering: A man returned to his Iowa Avenue home and noticed his garage door had been pried open. Nothing appeared to have been stolen, however.
Theft: An Abbey Street woman alleged a man took her $600 flat-screen TV.
Theft: A man noticed two flags missing from his yard in the 100 block of Church Hill Road.
Arrest: While responding to a report of an unwanted person in the 100 block of Crumlin Avenue, officers took Hailey P. English of Cortland into custody. English, 21, was wanted on a Trumbull County 911 center warrant.
Sept. 7
Menacing: A South State Street woman said a man drove by her home multiple times, then followed the accuser in her vehicle.
Possible breaking and entering: Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Taylor Avenue before finding two people inside who claimed they had permission to remove certain property.
Sept. 8
Arrest: Police arrested Brett A. Evans at his East Second Street residence. The Girard man was wanted on a warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Theft by deception: A Townsend Avenue man reported having given another man a $200 down payment to repair his roof but that the work was never finished.
Sept. 9
Menacing: A North Davis Street man said another man drove past the accuser’s home and threatened him.
LIBERTY
Sept. 5
Arrest: A traffic stop near Gypsy Lane resulted in the arrest of 59-year-old William M. Joseph on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. Joseph, of Broadway Avenue, Youngstown, had a 0.091 blood-alcohol count, slightly more than the state’s 0.08 legal limit, a report said.
Criminal damaging: Someone damaged a wooden door frame to a residence in the 1400 block of Townsend Avenue while trying to pry it open.
Domestic violence: Qadar A. Albrezat, 28, of Townsend Avenue, Liberty, faced a felony domestic-violence charge after his wife alleged Albrezat had thrown a set of keys and the family cat at her during an argument. Later, after she had left and refused to return home, he struck her four or five times in the head and face, leaving bruises and scratches, she further alleged.
Auto theft: A felony charge of receiving stolen property was pending against a Youngstown man, 25, after police conducting a vehicle check on Belmont Avenue said they determined the 1983 Buick Regal had been stolen Aug. 12 in Youngstown.
Theft: A $150 mounted surveillance camera was removed from a residence in the 4000 block of Jefferson Court.
Sept. 6
Arrest/citation: Jerrell K. Miles, 26, of South Jackson Street, Youngstown, was taken into custody on a felonious-assault warrant as authorities conducted a traffic stop on Belmont Avenue. Also, 30-year-old James M. Horne of Booker Drive, New Castle, Pa., was cited on a charge of driving under suspension.
Intimidation: A Roosevelt Drive woman and another woman told authorities they had received secondhand information that a 44-year-old Youngstown man might plan to pay someone to harm them so they wouldn’t testify in a domestic-violence case against him.
Assault/theft: Authorities charged Jarett C. Morrison, 28, of Naylor-Lloyd Road, Liberty, with assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft and receiving stolen property after his girlfriend alleged Morrison had taken her car, some of her money and her debit card without permission. Later, the accuser’s sister alleged Morrison had assaulted her, and the victim had scratches and redness to her neck, a report stated.
Theft: A Youngstown woman told police her stolen debit card was used without authorization at a Goldie Road big-box store.
Drugs: Officers were dispatched to a car crash near Logan Way, where they charged 25-year-old Samuel Hassel of Winner Road, Hermitage, Pa., with drug abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle impaired. A tube with one prescription pill was found, authorities said.
Sept. 7
Arrest: Police on state Route 193 pulled over and arrested Elton J. Mitchell of Niles-Cortland Road, Niles, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. The 41-year-old Mitchell’s blood-alcohol count was 0.268, more than three times the legal limit, a report showed.
Sept. 8
Harassment: A March Avenue woman said she received 30 unwanted text messages.
Arrest: While investigating a shoplifting situation at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, police charged 30-year-old Stephanie M. Yash of West Market Street, Warren, with obstructing official business. Yash, who also was wanted on a Cuyahoga County warrant charging burglary, provided a false name and Social Security number, they alleged.
Harassment: A Lincoln Avenue woman reported a man in his 20s came onto her property and made unwanted sexual comments to her.
HUBBARD
Sept. 4
Theft: A West Liberty Street man discovered about $209 had been removed from his bank account.
Drugs: Officers responded to suspicious activity near Elmwood Drive before issuing minor-misdemeanor citations charging William J. Southern of Jerry Drive, Hubbard, and Anthony M. Santagata of Belvedere Avenue Southeast, Warren, with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The two 18-year-old men had a bowl commonly used for marijuana and a device often used to grind marijuana, as well as a bag and a container with a green leafy substance thought to be marijuana, a report showed.
Sept. 5
Domestic violence: A 16-year-old Hubbard boy was charged when his father alleged that after having reviewed certain house rules, the teen became upset and struck the accuser, leaving injuries to his forearms.
Sept. 6
Drugs: A traffic stop near Myron Street led to a summons charging 32-year-old Jacob F. Perrotta of Ruth Road, Hubbard, with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia when, police said, a bag containing a green leafy substance was found, and that they smelled suspected marijuana.
