Event to fund school jackets for Hubbard first-graders

Hubbard first-graders will have a chance to show their school spirit, thanks to a fundraiser by the New Manhattan Bar and Grill.

The restaurant will host its third annual “Koats 4 Kids” event Saturday at 7262 Hubbard-Masury Road. Proceeds will go toward purchasing a Hubbard Eagles jacket for every first-grader at Hubbard Elementary School.

“We just want to make sure that every first-grader feels welcomed into the community,” Marilyn Mclung, wife of the New Manhattan Bar and Grill owner, said. “This is a great opportunity for them to show Hubbard pride.”

The event, which begins at 11 a.m., includes a free buffet, an auction, a raffle and a car wash.

Local rock band Haymaker will perform at 1 p.m. Various local businesses have donated to the event.

There is no cover charge, but donations will be accepted.
