Canfield boy’s soccer beats Howland

The Canfield boy’s varsity soccer team beat Howland 1-0 in the Aug. 27 matchup. Scoring the sole goal for Canfield was Justin Montazeri. Canfield’s record stands at 2-0-0 for the season and 1-0-0 for the AAC.

Girls volleyball victorious over Lakeside

The Canfield girls volleyball team recently defeated Lakeside 3-0 with scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-10. Top players for Canfield included Maddy Johns (11 kills), Emma Hartshorn (29 assists, 11 points), Ellie Dundics (18 digs), Jessica Meissner (31 digs) and Morgan Cleevely (14 points)

Canfield volleyball defeats Boardman

Canfield girl’s volleyball beat Boardman 3-0 on Aug. 27, with the scores 25-17, 26-24 and 25-10. Contributing to success for Canfield were Maddy Johns with 14 kills, Lara Quirk with nine kills, Morgan Leonard with 10 kills, Jessica Meissner with 24 digs, Emma Hartshorn with 31 assists and Morgan Cleevely with 15 points.

Girl’s golf putts their way to victory

On Aug. 22, the Canfield High School girl’s golf team played 18 holes at the Midwest Golf Invitation at Skyland Pines Golf Course. Scoring for Canfield were Gillian Cerimele (80), Kaci Carpenter (87), Hannah Keffler (88) and Carmel Cerimele (102) The team had a total of 357, and placed 10th out of 18 teams in the field. On Aug. 24, the team played the Walsh Jesuit Invitational at the Country Club of Hudson. Scoring for Canfield were Gillian Cerimele (80), Kaci Carpenter (87), Hannah Keffler (87) and Carmel Cerimele (94). The team finished with a total of 348 and finished seventh out of 16 teams.

The school year is almost upon us and soon fall sports will begin. Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a fall sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need you help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.
