Boardman man arrested for allegedly threatening police officer

BOARDMAN — A township man is charged with intimidation, a third-degree felony, after he allegedly repeatedly threatened a police officer who cited him for disorderly conduct while intoxicated.

Charged with the two offenses is Norman Hageman, 61, of Meadowbrook Avenue.

The charges stem from an incident Thursday in which police were called to South Avenue near Lowe's in reference to a man who was walking in the road and yelling at passing vehicles.

When the officer attempted to write Hageman a citation and offered him a courtesy ride to his home, according to a police report, Hageman reportedly threatened the officer multiple times.

Hageman was taken to an area hospital, where blood work determined his blood-alcohol concentration was .302, nearly four times the legal intoxication limit. He later was taken to the Mahoning County jail and is scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court here Tuesday.
